Spinning Yarn Using a Wheel

Lee Coray-Ludden.  Get to know the basics of using a spinning wheel, without buying a wheel!  Instructor will provide wheels for use during class, allowing participants to experience and learn this exciting craft.  Participants who already own their own wheel are encouraged to bring it to class.  Lessons will be provided in each class, with homework to allow more practice time outside class.  Learn how a spinning wheel works, as well as basic maintenance.  Learn to spin single ply yarn and basic 2 ply.  Instructor will provide a variety of fibers, including different types of wool, silk, cashmere and alpaca for participants to try spinning. Learn how to spin from raw fleece—including how to skirt the fleece, pick it, card it and practice spinning in the grease (with the lanolin still in the fleece).  Everyone will leave with a small sample of a variety of fibers.

Mondays, Beginning March 16, Ending April 6 / 6pm-9pm / 4 Nights / Teens and Adults / 3 Minimum and 6 Maximum / Soldotna Prep (formerly Soldotna Middle School) Classroom / $125 (includes materials and use of equipment for the duration of the class)
