Soldotna Campgrounds Opening Soon
COVID-19 Operating Plans

The City of Soldotna has updated its 2020 Operating Plans for all City Campgrounds and Parks, these updates are to ensure a safe and fun experience for all visitors by maintaining the social distancing guidelines provided by the CDC and Alaska Governor Dunleavy.

Centennial Campground is scheduled to open Friday, May 22nd and Swiftwater Campground will open the following Friday, May 29th.  We are excited to welcome you back to our parks, and want to make you aware of a few changes you’ll see this year.

Payment information:

  • The City will not be accepting cash/checks for payment within City campgrounds or Rotary Park this summer. We apologize for any inconvenience, but feel this is a necessary step to protect our employees and the public. Please bring a credit/debit card for payment, and a campground attendant will be happy to assist you at our booth. You can also pay via debit/credit card at our electronic pay stations.
  • Reservations can be made for portions of Centennial campground, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - p.m., by calling 907-262-3151. All other campground sites remain available on a first come, first served system.

Campsites, bathrooms, outhouses:

  • Campsites located less than 25 feet from an adjacent site will be closed to camping this summer. Closed sites will be posted with a sign and marked on a map available at the campground booth.
  • Bathrooms and outhouses will be cleaned frequently, with notices posted at each location as to the cleaning schedule.

Health guidelines:

Per guidance from Alaska Governor Dunleavy and the CDC, we hope you will observe the following precautions while visiting:

Do a wellness check before heading out. If anyone is feeling sick or has recently been exposed to someone with COVID-19, it’s best to play it safe and stay home. Please call 907-262-3151 to cancel or reschedule an existing reservation.

  • Travel in household groups in your car or recreational vehicle.
  • Bring your own cleaning supplies, such as hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes.
  • Practice social distancing. Always maintain at least 6’ of separation between you and other non-household members.
  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly.
  • Wear a cloth face covering when around others or when using public facilities (CDC does not recommend face coverings for children two years old and younger).
The City of Soldotna has taken proactive steps to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 in our community. We want Alaskans and visitors to safely enjoy our parks and outdoor spaces. Thank you for also doing your part, and we hope you have a great summer!
